Was Fuck Buttons an influence? kind of reminds me of a song off Tarot Sport but less abrasive. Nice work.
It’s hard to say what was an influence…Fuck Buttons are awesome, though, and I was super into Tarot Sport when it came out. There’s an earlier version of this that emphasizes the acoustic aspects of it, and kinda sounds like Atlas Sound/Sung Tongs era Animal Collective. We are definitely not done with it, though. I’m sure it will go through many more changes before we hit a sweet spot.
This is a song my friend and I made one afternoon using nothing but an acoustic guitar, Ableton Live, and my voice. It’s really long and ambient. And it may not even be done yet. But it’s pretty fucking cool, and I’m proud of it. Give it a listen and let me know what you think.
We’re gonna start making a lot more music like this under the name “Double Fantasy.” So you can expect more in the near future.
“I’m not excited about the record these days. I was excited about it when I did it (in 2007-10). I feel sort of detached from it these days because I’m ready to move on. I never intended for that record to be heard by a whole bunch of people. It’s a skeleton, an outline. I’m a bit embarrassed. My Dad said people at his job wanted copies and I said, ‘Dad, it’s not that kind of record.’ It‘s for people who dig conceptual art, which is just a fancy way of saying it’s for people who don’t mind that it’s terrible. I feel like I’ve grown up from that sound. I feel I have so much more to offer.”—Willy Beal-Beal
Here are the four most recent tracks I uploaded to my Soundcloud page. Most of the stuff on there is written, recorded, and uploaded in around 15 minutes. Just something I do to keep track of all the shit I spew out.
“No More Games. No More Bombs. No More Walking. No More Fun. No More Swimming. 67. That is 17 years past 50. 17 more than I needed or wanted. Boring. I am always bitchy. No Fun – for anybody. 67. You are getting Greedy. Act your old age. Relax – This won’t hurt.”—Hunter S. Thompson’s suicide note, titled “Football Season is Over.”
If you were reading music blogs in late 2008 you remember that people were getting pretty worked up about the upcoming Animal Collective album. A song or two trickled out; someone hacked Geologist’s email and sent a note to a blog asking that the record be leaked; the one or two print reviews that…
“Well, I’ve changed the course of music five or six times. What have you done except fuck the president?”—Miles Davis to Nancy Reagan at a White House dinner in 1987 after she’d enquired as to what he’d done with his life to merit an invitation. source (via uzowuru)
